Lil Dicky featuring Fetty Wap and Rich Homie Quan - $ave Dat Money

This video has a very interesting concept and this is what I will focus on rather than the shots even though there are some great shots within.

USA rapper, 'lil dicky' has been known for not being a traditonal rapper. His raps are known for almost taking the mick and this song did not hold back. Save Dat Money is all about as the title would say. Saving Money. The video can be seen starting with him knocking on doors of LA residents who possess rather large houses. He gets rejected a couple of times but then finally someone lets him. The music then starts. This video can be described as a 'documentary. as well as a video.

The first location was an LA house but then other locations are in the LA area also:

  • Beverley Hills Lamborghini - Palm Springs

  • A boat at the port

  • A downtown LA nightclub

During the video, he can be seen going and asking various people to use their assets like a Lambo, boat etc. This is all for free reinstates the running concept of the video.

Regarding shots, they can be seen as fairly 'typical' for a rap video. Many feature females not wearing much on the boat and also when he 'hjacks' T pains video and uses the supporting dancers. The night club is a typical party where Fetty Wap features with much darker lightintg than the rest of the video. All shots are from similar sort of distances (mediuim mainly) and no effects are used, this arugably helps with the flow of the song.

The sounds flip between non digetic and diegetic throughout the video. The conversations are always diegetic apart from the last one during  the end scene during a conversation when Lil dicky is still rapping with a dubbed voice.

Rich Homie Quan is briefly diegetic but fetty wap is completely non diegetic as he engages in no dialogue.

In the final stages of the song. Lots of short cameos featuring starts such as Mark Cuban, Tomy Petty, Dj Dillon Francis and NBA star Kevin Durant (pictured).

This once agains supports and reinstates the saving money theme.

I highly value this video due the unique concept and heights Lil Dicky takes it to.
