Hip Hop

Hip Hop is one of the most popular genres in the world. Originating in the Bronx, New York in the 70's and rising to popularity in the 80's.

This globally recognised genre is still huge even today. It is described as an 'old and new phenomenon' and has been supported a lot for helping people who were on the edge of life contemlating suicide etc.

Huge groups like N.W.A who revolutionised the genre by challenging and 'fighting' the system which didn't care about poor black people. Inspirational rappers like Tupac Shakur also gave out similar messages. Today the message is similar in some cases but many favour using it to let everyone know how rich they are.

For our group, Hip could be a an idea due to the rich meaning of songs. Even though many artists and their lyrics are 'explicit' some are not and could have potential for our group to use. Ideas for this can spread a long way and we have a range of accessible locations that we can utilise.
