Atlantic Records

Atlantic Records was created in 1947 and released it's first recordings in 1948 originally focusing on modern jazz but featuring country and western music too. The hits began going into the 50's well with their first hit selling over 400,000 copies and staying in the billboard for apporximately half a year Bigger names started rolling in such as Ray Charles. Atlantic saw the increase in popularity for the R&B genre and started to adopt artists for it. Soul then followed on in the 60's then in 1966 the rights to the label were acquired by giant Warner Bros. The label continued through the rock era in the 70's right throughn until today. Many varied artists all belong to the label with big names like:

  • Akon

  • Flo Rida

  • Jess Glynne

  • Cold Play

  • Bruno Mars

  • Rita Ora

  • Skrillex

  • Young Thug

For our group, a song from Atlantic Records could be a possibility. Due to their varied plethora of artists from many genres, this could be a possibility. They still possess many/rock artists so indie could be present, this will require more research.
